The government of Mexico City announced the closure of the Federal Republic Bridge that connects the Iztapalapa borough with the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in the State of Mexico. This bridge is located over Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, near the Peñón Viejo metro. The information was disclosed by the Secretariat of Works and Services of CDMX.
To resolve the situation, various road alternatives have been proposed, such as the use of Avenida Pantitlán, Avenida Texcoco, John F. Kennedy, Vicente Villada, Avenida Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Avenida López Mateos, Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, Avenida Guelatao, and Eje 6 Sur. If freight transport needs to use the bridge in the east-west direction, Avenida Pantitlán is recommended.
For westward crossing, it is suggested to use the Crisóstomo Bonilla bridge, and for the crossing of private vehicles, drivers can make use of the Amador Salazar and Crisóstomo Bonilla bridges. These closures and detours will remain in effect from November 14 and it is expected that the works will conclude in about a month.
During this period, freight units that usually pass through the Federal Republic Bridge must be aware of the detours that have been established for them, especially in the east-west direction, which will start from Avenida Guelatao.
